GBSR Metre Gauge System in chronological order

The following lines were prior to 1921 worked by Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway(BB&CIR) until transferred in 1921 to the newly formed Gaekwar's Baroda State Railway(GBSR):-


  • ‘Bhoyani Road-Bochraji Extension Railway’, 21 miles(34km) MG; owned by the Princely Baroda State; appoval granted in 1916 [5]

The 1936-37 “Report by the Railway Board on Indian Railways” [1] gives the Route Mileage of the GBSR ‘Metre Gauge Division’ as 255 Miles(210km).

  • ‘Khijadiya-Dhari Railway’, 37 miles(60km) MG [1]
  • ‘Prachi Road-Kodinar Railway’, 16 miles(26km) [1]. Commissioned in 1935, the line was 3/4th completed and expected to be opened for traffic before January 1938 [6].


Further routes of the GBSR Metre Gauge system have not been identified
