Chronology

1689 raised as local militia at Enniskillen by General Zachariah Tiffin
1751 became the 27th (Enniskillen) Regiment of Foot
1881 amalgamated with the 108th Regiment of Foot (Madras Infantry) to become The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
1968 amalgamated with The Royal Ulster Rifles and The Royal Irish Fusiliers to become The Royal Irish Rangers
1991 amalgamated with the Ulster Defence Regiment to form the new The Royal Irish Regiment (27th (Inniskilling) 83rd and 87th and Ulster Defence Regiment).
