Ahmedabad-Parantij Railway, a private Company registered 1896. A metre gauge(MG), line 55 miles(88km), opened 1897 from Ahmedabad to Parantij and Himatnagar [1].

Ahmedabad-Parantij Railway

Extended to Idar later in 1897 [2].

Extended further to Khul Brahma in 1911 giving total 89 miles(142km) [1]

Worked as part of the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway MG network[1]

  • Himatnager, not listed in the 'Imperial Gazetteer 1908'
  • Idar, was previously called Ahmednagar and part of Idar State [3].
  • Khul Brahma, not listed in the 'Imperial Gazetteer 1908', now named Khedbrahma

An on-line search of the IOR records relating to this railway [4] gives the following: -

  • L/AG/46/21 “Records of the India Office relating to the Ahmadabad-Parantij Railway; 1896-1910"; with the Catalogue note 'The Company was formed in India in 1896. Line ran from Ahmadabad City north to Parantij (Prantej), a distance of some 33 miles. Worked by the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway from 1897 (see L/AG/46/6).
