Chronology

1885 raised 21st August as the Southern Mahratta Railway Rifles (Madras GO No. 439)^[1]
1898 28th January, absorbed the Bellary Volunteer Rifle Corps by GGO No 109^[1]
1910 amalgamated on 4th June to become Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway Rifles^[2]
