The Malabar Volunteer Rifles were a volunteer corps under the Madras command.
Chronology
- 1885 incorporated the Calicut and Tellicherry Volunteer Corps as companies (PMG No 4454, 13 Aug 1885)[1]
- 1885 raised as the Malabar Volunteer Rifles on 14th August[1]
- 1917 amalgamated on 1st April to become 20th Nilgiri Malabar Battalion[2]
