1751 became the 40th Regiment of Foot
1782 became the 40th (the 2nd Somersetshire) Regiment of Foot
1881 united with 82nd Regiment of Foot to form The Prince of Wales's Volunteers (South Lancashire Regiment)
1938 became the South Lancashire Regiment
1958 amalgamated with The East Lancashire Regiment to form The Lancashire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Volunteers)
1970 amalgamated with the 1st Battalion, The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire), to form the 1st Battalion, The Queen's Lancashire Regiment
2006 merged with the King's Regiment and the King's Own Royal Border Regiment to become 1st Battalion Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's Lancashire and Border)
