Charanpore Colliery Tramway

The 'Charanpore Colliery' was 7½ miles(12km) from Asansol, being the western part of the Raniganj Coalfield. The Colliery was owned by Seth Apcar [1] of ‘Apcar & Co’.

A line ran from the Colliery to the East Indian Railway(EIR) to Asansol Station. It is thought that the line was a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) tramway. An advert ran regularly in 'Indian Engineering' in 1887 for a colliery at Seebpore that was described as connected to the EIR at Asansol by a 5 mile(8km) steam tramway; this may have been this tramway
