Krishna Railway Bridge, Kudachi
The bridge comprised fourteen spans of 150 feet, metre gauge and carried the Southern Mahratta Railway (SMR) which runs south from Poona and runs about 60 miles inland and therefore parallel to the range of high hills which border the west coast. The bridge crossed the Krishna River at Kudachi between Miraj and Belgaum
The bridge was under constructed in 1885 with Charles Herbert Parker serving under H C Stables, Executive Engineer; the bridge opened Dec 1887 [1].
The bridge was regirdered in 1929 following detection of structural failings [2].
