Ganges River Crossing Tramway.

In about 1854-55 a proposal was put forward for a tramway to cross the River Ganges.

The proposal was submitted by Messrs. Greenway of Cawnpore 'to construct a double tramway to facilitate the transit of the River Ganges'[1]

Messrs. Greenway were responsible for similar dry season river crossings of the River Ganges at Jajmau near Cawnpore, 1853-54 and Furruckabad.

This clearly would have been a dry season temporary track but no further information has been found.
