Major General Sir Henry Tombs VC KCB (1825–1874) was a soldier of the East India Company who was born in Calcuttaand joined the Bengal Artillery in 1841. He served in the Gwalior Campaign 1843, the Sutlej Campaign 1845-46 and the Punjab Campaign. He commanded a troop of horse artillery during the Indian Mutiny and won the VC at the Siege of Delhi
