The station at this town was on the metre gauge(MG) Bengal and North-Western Railway(B&NWR).

In 1904 the MG Sagauli-Raxaul Railway opened, worked as part of the Trirhoot State Railway Network.

In 1927 the Nepal Government Railway, a 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG)line, opened to Raxaul to carry timber from the forests of Nepal . At Raxaul the timber was transferred to the MG network for distribution.
