The Trivellore Light Railway was a private, unassisted railway owned and worked by T. Namberumal Chetty and Sons., Madras. The line was a 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) with a length of 2 miles(3km) and operated from Trivellore Station to Trivellore Temple, 2.12 miles(3.4km) with an extension to Bazaar End, 0.25 miles(0.4km)[1].
The ‘Statistics of Working’ show the year-by-year financial results from 1921-22 through to 1936-37 [1]

History
Only the following information has been found concerning this railway:-
- The construction of this line, in the district of Chingleput in the Madras Presidency , under the provision of the Indian Tramways Act, 1886, was authorised on 6 Sep 1904. The approval allowed for the construction, maintenance and use for public traffic of the ‘Vendalur and Trivellore Tramway’[1].
- The date of acquisition of the line is not known
- The Company was a major construction business and had acquired the small private railway company, which ran a feeder line to the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway(M&SMR) from Trivellore Station[2].
- The line was not included in the list of Railways in India until 17 Sep 1921[1].
- This two-mile tramway from Trivellore station to the local temple was authorised in 1904 and appears to have operated until 1939 with two (possibly three) locomotives but no further information is available[3]
