Assistant Surgeon may refer to:
- Assistant Surgeon (covenanted) - before 1873, the lowest rank of the Indian Medical Service
- Assistant Surgeon (uncovenanted) - from 1894, the title Assistant Surgeon replaced that of Apothecary in the Indian Subordinate Medical Department
Under the EIC Army, entrants into the Military Medical Service entered with the rank of Assistant Surgeon. By the 1890s, this title transferred to the former Apothecary in the Indian Subordinate Medical Service and the ranking in the Indian Medical Service became those traditionally used by Army officers.
