Charles Cornwallis

Charles Cornwallis, 1st Marquess Cornwallis KG (1738-1805), the British general who surrendered at Yorktown in the American War of Independence, commanded the forces of Madras Presidency in the 3rd Mysore War. He was Commander-in-Chief in India and Governor-General of the Presidency of Fort William, also known as the Bengal Presidency.
