A Managing Agent and merchant company established 'Wattenbach, Heilgers & Co', this became ‘F W Heilgers & Company’ by 1878. Their offices were at 136 Canning Street, Calcutta and formed as F W Heilgers & Company. Their UK based office was known by the same name. They had interests in coal and the Jute industry [1].
In 1917 the company was acquired by Bird & Company[1]
