Lahore Municipality Conservancy Tramway Proposal
The records show that in 1898-99 the Lahore Municipality had proposed a Conservancy Tramway. The specification required 6½ miles(10km) of 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) tramway, track equipment, tipping wagons and locomotives. In 1901-02 all had been delivered 'however work on the line had been delayed due to the unexpected death of the Municipal Engineer'. By 1906 it was reported that construction had commenced and was being done by the Public Works Department(PWD) as the Municipality were considered incompetent. There are no records concerning this project after that date [1].
