Mithapur Chemical Works Railway

The Mithapur Chemical Works was established as the 'Okha Salt Works Ltd' in 1923, situated at Mithapur on the Okhamandal peninular, Gujarat State. The site was taken over by 'Tata Chemicals Limited' in 1939 and produces salt, soda ash, caustic soda, sodium bicarbonate etc. [1].

The works is south-east of Mithapur station on the metre gauge(MG) Jamnagar and Dwarka Railway , there was a branch to this line and the works operated a MG locomotive on this branch[1].

The records also show that a 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) railway operated within the works[1], but the extent of the track is not known.
