Radhanagari Dam Construction Railway

In Nov 1909 work commenced on what was the known as the 'Shri Maharani Laxmibia Tank' at Radhanagari on the Boghwati River. The work was being carried out by Kolhapur State Public Works Department under the supervision of the Maharaja's brother who was the chief engineer on the project [1].

Radhanagari Dam was the name given to the dam when completed in 1922-23 with the following specification given in 'Wikipedia':-
The height of the dam above lowest foundation is 42.68 m (140.0 ft) while the length is 1,143 m (3,750 ft). The gross storage capacity is 236,810,000 m3 (8.363×109 cu ft)[2]. Wikipedia incorrectly state 'This is the first ever built dam in India', perhaps it means 'by Indian Civil Engineers'.

Radhanagari Dam Construction Railway, the 1909-10 British administration report for Kolhapur State gives an update on constuction progress including 'laying out of light rails' and the records show that both 2ft 6in and 2ft 0in narrow gauge(NG) locomotives were ordered in 1910 for the project[1]. No further information is known.
