[[Bombay]] Port Trust created 1873 was modelled on the Mersey Board in England to control all harbour activities. It undertook extensive land reclamation work, and the creation of docks *Princes Dock 1880*Victoria Dock 1883*Merewether Dry Dock 1893Half of all Indian exports passed through Bombay's docks. Railway sidings spurred off the [[Great Indian Peninsula Railway]] (GIPR) to these docks . The '''Port Trust Railway''' 1915 ran from Ballard Pier to Wadala was opened in 1915. Along this railway were built grain and fuel oil depots. The kerosene oil installations were developed at Sewri and for petrol at Wadala.
