Lieutenant Colonel John Masters, DSO (1914–1983) was an English officer in the 2nd Battalion [[4th Gurkha Rifles]] Indian Army from 1935, and novelist. His works are noted for their treatment of the British Empire in India.
His 1954 novel Bhowani Junction was made into a successful film, starring Ava Gardner. The geographic location of fictional Bhowani Junction was most likely Jhansi, but the film was shot in Lahore.
