The '''Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway'''(M&SMR) was formed in 1908 from the merger of the [[Madras Railway]](MR) and the [[Southern Mahratta Railway]](SMR).
There were Workshops at [[Perambur]] for repairs to locomotives and coaches and wagons.
