The South Indian Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment. They comprised staff of the South Indian Railway.

1884 raised as South Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps on 5th August^[1]^[2]
1917 1st April, became the 29th South Indian Railway Battalion^[1]
1920 1st October, redesignated South Indian Railway Battalion^[1]
