- 1782 became the 49th (the Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1816 became the 49th (Princess Charlotte of Wales's) (or the Hertfordshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 united with 66th (Berkshire) Regiment of Foot, to form The Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Berkshire Regiment)
- 1885 was granted the distinction of a royal title, and became The Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment)
- 1959 amalgamated into The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire)
