  • 1758 formed by redesignation of 2nd Battalion, 11th Regiment of Foot
  • 1782 renamed the 64th (2nd Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot
  • 1881 combined with 98th Regiment of Foot to become the 1st Battalion, The Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire) Regiment
  • 1920 renamed The North Staffordshire (The Prince of Wales's) Regiment
  • 1959 amalgamated to form The Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales's)
  • 2007 amalgamated with the 22nd (Cheshire) Regiment and The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment to form The Mercian Regiment, in which the Staffords became the 3rd (Staffordshire) Battalion
