Northern Railway
A zone of Indian Railways (IR), formed on 14 April 1952 from the merger of the:-
- ‘Eastern Punjab Railway’
- ‘Bikaner State Railway’ eastern part. The western part having been transferred to ‘Pakistan Railways’ on partition in 1947
- ‘Jodhpur State Railway’ eastern part, excluding the ‘Marwar-Phulad Section’ and the western part having been transferred to ‘Pakistan Railways’ on partition in 1947
- ‘East Indian Railway’ - ‘Moradabad, Lucknow & Allahabad Division’
- ‘Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway’ - ‘Delhi-Rewari-Fazilka Section’
