Part of the Madras European Infantry, later renamed the 108th Regiment of Foot.

Chronology

  • 1854 raised as the 3rd Madras (European) Regiment
  • 1842 renamed the 3rd Madras (European) Infantry
  • 1858 taken into the British Army
  • 1862 renamed 108th Regiment of Foot
  • 1881 amalgamated with the 27th (Inniskilling) Regiment of Foot to form The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
  • 1968 merged with the Royal Ulster Rifles and the Royal Irish Fusiliers and became the Royal Irish Rangers
