The South Indian Railway Battalion were an auxiliary regiment. They comprised staff of the Assam-Bengal Railway.
Chronology
- 1884 raised as South Indian Railway Volunteer Rifle Corps on 5th August[1][2]
- 1917 1st April, became the 29th South Indian Railway Battalion[1]
- 1920 1st October, redesignated South Indian Railway Battalion[1]
