The Sirhind-Rupar Railway was constructed by the North Western Railway(NWR) as part of its network. The line opened in 1927-28. [1]
The opening of the line made the Patiala State Monorail Trainways obsolete together with any plan to extend the line from Rupar to Morinda. [2]
