  • 1855, Railway Department as Deputy Consulting Engineer, Bombay [1].
  • 1858, promoted to Captain [1].
  • 1861, made a member of the Bombay Municipality, in addition to his other duties [1].
  • 1864-66, medical leave to England [1].
  • 1866, appointed Executive Engineer of the Tapti Irrigation Works, however due to a vacancy transferred to Railway Branch - PWD [1].
  • 1867, promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel [1].
  • 1868, Consulting Engineer and Under Secretary to the Government of Bombay [1].
  • 1870, appointed Chief Engineer of the Bombay Presidency [1].
  • 1872, Consulting Engineer for Railways and Under Secretary to Goverment Railway Branch [2].
  • 1872, promoted Colonel, acted as Deputy Secretary to the Government of India Railway Branch, then returned to England on medical leave [1].
  • 1878 returned to India appointed Officiating Deputy-Secretary to the Government of India in the Railway Branch [1].
  • 1878, end of that year he retired from the army with the rank of Major-General[1].
