Chronology

  • 1842 raised by Lieut Ryves as 8th Irregular Cavalry
  • 1861 became Regiment of Bengal Cavalry
  • 1883 became 6th (The Prince of Wales’) Bengal Cavalry
  • 1901 became 6th Prince of Wales’ Cavalry
  • 1906 became 6th King Edward’s Own Cavalry
  • 1922 amalgamated with 7th Hariana Lancers to become 18th King Edward's Own Cavalry
