After the decisive victory at the [[Battle of Mahidpore]], [[Thomas Hislop|Sir Thomas Hislop]] obtained the surrender of a number of border fortresses. The [[Killadar]] of Talneir refused to capitulate until a storming party forced entry to the gates and he surrendered himself. At one gate however Arabs in the garrison cut down a party of the besiegers which Hislop took for treachery. He hanged the Killadar and the garrison of 300 was slaughtered. Hislop was criticised in Parliament over the affair.

Summary
