The Jammu–Sialkot Railway was a 27 mile(43 km) 2ft 6in/762mm narrow gauge(NG) branch of the North Western Railway(NWR) from Wazirabad, Punjab, to Jammu through Sialkot. [1]
The railway was built in 1897, and was the first railway line in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Whilst once a crucial transportation route used for trade and commerce, particularly in the sugar trade, it was abandoned after the partition of India, with a replacement line built from Pathankot to Jammu.
