Chronology
- 1824 raised as the 99th Regiment of Foot
- 1832 became the 99th (Lanarkshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1874 became the 99th Duke of Edinburgh's (Lanarkshire) Regiment of Foot
- 1881 amalgamated with the 62nd (Wiltshire) Regiment of Foot to form The Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment)
- 1921 became The Wiltshire Regiment (Duke of Edinburgh's)
- 1959 amalgamated with The Royal Berkshire Regiment (Princess Charlotte of Wales's), to form The Duke of Edinburgh's Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire)
First World War
1/4th Battalion Wiltshire Regiment was in India 1914 – 1917 and saw service in Palestine 1917 – 1918.[1]
