Patri Branch Line also described as the Patree Railway [1] a broad gauge(BG) branch line, opened 1873 of a line length of 22 miles(35km) from Viramgam to Kharaghoda[2]

Operated as a branch of the Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway Bombay-Ahmadabad BB&CIR Main Line.

At Kharaghoda the BB&CIR laid sidings on behalf of the ‘Bombay Salt Department’ and leased locomotives, wagons and personel to operate the Kharaghoda Salt Works Railway each year during the salt collection period normally from early April to mid May or the beginning of June Works’ [3].
