The station at this town was the connection between the 'Gondal State Railway' and the ‘Porbandar State Railway’, thus connecting Porbandar to the rail network when the line opened in 1889. The lines were initially worked as part of the ‘Bhavnagar-Gondal-Junagad-Porbandar Railway’until 1911. Then worked independently as the Gondal-Porbandar Railway
