Summary
After the decisive victory at the Battle of Mahidpore, Sir Thomas Hislop obtained the surrender of a number of border fortresses. The Killadar of Talneir refused to capitulate until a storming party forced entry to the gates and he surrendered himself. At one gate however Arabs in the garrison cut down a party of the besiegers which Hislop took for treachery. He hanged the Killadar and the garrison of 300 was slaughtered. Hislop was criticised in Parliament over the affair.
