Walajah Road-Ranipet Railway
The Walajah Road-Ranipet Railway was a short broad gauge(BG) 4 mile (6km) branch line of Madras Railway(MR) linking Ranipet to the mainline.
The line opened on 17 April 1899 [1] and was recorded in 1899 in the North Arcot section of the "Gazetteer of South India" by W.Francis [2].
The IOR [3] Catalogue gives a Contract, dated 1 November 1901 with the remark 'Madras Railway Company, Contract relating to the construction and working of a branch railway from Walajah Road to Ranipet'
MR became Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway(M&SMR) in 1908
