Goalundo-Narayanganj Extension Railway Survey

The Goalundo-Narayanganj Extension was surveyed by the Eastern Bengal Railway(EBR) during the period 1894-98. The record states “the object of connecting Calcutta with the Assam-Bengal Railway” <ref<“Summary of the principal measures of the viceroyalty of the Earl of Elgin in the Public Works Department Jan 1894 to Dec 1898” page 21, para 77, pdf 34; Retrieved 25 Jan 2019</ref>.

This line was not constructed, it involved crossing the River Ganges.

Even today the railway stops at Goalundo Ghat Station, a short distance from the ferry terminal at Daulatdia crossing to Paturia on the opposite bank of the Ganges.
