Chronology

  • 1662 raised in England to garrison Bombay
  • 1668 named The Bombay Regiment on transfer to HEIC
  • 1839 renamed 1st Bombay (European) Regiment
  • 1844 renamed 1st Bombay (European) Fusiliers
  • 1858 taken into the British Army
  • 1862 renamed 103rd Regiment of Foot (Royal Bombay Fusiliers)
  • 1881 merged with the 102nd Regiment of Foot and became 2nd Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers
  • 1922 disbanded on the formation of the Irish Free State
