The GIPR Nagpur Branch from Bhusawal was built by Messrs. Lee, Watson and Ayton, Construction Contractors. The line opened in stages 1863-67 - Bhusaval to Baderna 1863-65, to Nagpur 1867: 243.25 miles

One of the GIPR Engineers in charge of the construction was Robert Edwin Wright from 1864-67
