- 1885 became 13th Regiment of Madras Infantry
- 1903 became 73rd Carnatic Infantry
- 1922 became 1st/3rd Madras Regiment
- 1928 became 11th Battalion Madras Pioneers
- 1933 became 11th Madras Battalion ITF
- 1941 September became 2nd Battalion, The Madras Regiment
- 1942 redesignated 1st Battalion, The Madras Regiment
