Summary
Captain Bean was the political agent at Quetta. The Kakur tribesmen, part of the Brahui people, were believed to be in the pay of the British but they were also in league with the Marri tribesmen who were besieging Captain Brown at Kahan. On 22 June they attacked the small fort of Mirree at Quetta where Captain Bean was with 230 infantry and 20 Beloochee gunners but they were driven off. On 9 July they appeared before Quetta and made attempts to scale the walls. The attacks went on until 17 July when the tribesmen withdrew.
