Bombay, Baroda & Central India Railway - Personnel

Unfortunately, there are no BB&CIR staff records held in the India Office Records at the British Library.
The following records have been found from various sources:-
- BB&CIR Agents and Chief Engineeers
- Arthur William Forde. 1855-60; BB&CIR, Chief Engineer [1].
- Henry James Bennett Hargrave. 1859, joined the BB&CIR, he rose to the position of Chief Engineer; 1866-70, Engineer on the BB&CIR Bombay Back Bay Reclamation Scheme Railway [2], he rose to the position of Chief Engineer [3]. Comment - it is not known how long he remained with BB&CIR as Chief Engineer.
- F.Mathew, Agent and Chief Engineer BB&CIR 1879 and 1880 ‘Railway Conference’ delegate
- BB&CIR Locomotive, Carriage and Wagon Superintendents
- E Sydney Luard , Chief Locomotive, Carriage and Wagon Superintendent for BB&CIR, Bombay Control of Locomotive and Carriage Department; redesigned and rebuilt those workshops; redesigned the rolling stock [4]. In 1892 represented BB&CIR at the Indian Railway Conference Association, Lahore. 'Locomotive Superintendents Conference' [5].
- Frederick James Page,1909, BB&CIR, Assistant Locomotive Superintendent. He held various responsible positions with BB&CIR for nearly twenty-five years, and was concerned with the electrification of the Bombay suburban lines [6].
- BB&CIR Executive and Senior Engineers
- James Robert Tickell was posted from State Railways to BB&CIR , from 1885 on loan as Assistant Engineer; Executive Engineer, 1893 and still in post 1905 [7].
