'Robert Hudson Ltd' was a Leeds UK based light railway manufacturer with the first known involvement in India exhibiting in the 1883 International Exhibition in Calcutta. By 1907 ‘Martin & Company’ had become their selling Agents and 'Robert Hudson (India) Ltd was incorporated in 1917 with ‘Martin & Company’ becoming the Managing Agent. The company had offices at 12 Mission Road, Calcutta and a works at Kidderpore for the manufacture of light railway material. The works was served by two main line sidings and had a fully equiped store yard, erecting and machine shops [1].
