The Thanesar-Kaithal Railway was a broad gauge(BG) branch line of Delhi-Umballa-Kalka Railway(DKR) .
Also described as the ‘Kaithal Branch’, 30 miles(48km) ran from Kurukshetra on the DKR and opened in Dec 1910

The DKR Company signed a contact in 1909 with the Government of India(GoI) for the construction and working of the Thanesar-Kaithal Railway line[2].
This branch was operating in 1912 making Kaithal an important trading centre. This line was initially worked by the East Indian Railway(EIR) [2][3]
The DKR and Branch was taken over by the Government of India (GoI) in 1925 [2] and the working transferred to the North Western Railway(NWR) on 1 Apr 1926 [4].
