The Mettupalaiyam Branch Line was a 22 mile(35km) broad gauge(BG) line to Mettupalaiyam
The line branched from Podanur on the Madras Railway which became the South Indian Railway BG 'Jalarpet-Mangalore Mainline'.
The line via Coimbatore to the terminus at Mettupalaiyam where it connected to the Nilgiri Mountain Railway for onward travel to Ootacamund
