  • 1702 raised as Sir John Gibson's Regiment of Foot
  • 1751 became the 28th Regiment of Foot
  • 1782 became the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot
  • 1881 amalgamated with the 61st Regiment of Foot to form The Gloucestershire Regiment
