The Commonwealth War Graves Commission lists three deaths in Africa where the regiment is listed as Indian Defence Force Artillery Calcutta Volunteer Bty., Calcutta Port Defence Volunteer Corps. Originally raised from the Calcutta Port Defence Volunteers on the 1st April 1902 and then became the No. 1 Electrical Engineer Company on the 1st April 1917. On the 1st October 1920 the unit became No. 1 (Calcutta) Field Company before becoming No. 1 (Calcutta) Fortress Company on the 1st April 1933.
