The Tarikere-Narasimharajapura Tramway was a 2ft/610mm narrow gauge(NG) line, completed in May 1917; owned and worked by the Mysore State Railway. The line linked Tarikere to Narasimharajapura, a length of 27 miles(42km) [1].

Tarikere was a station on the Birur-Shimoga Railway, metre gauge(MG) branch line which was worked by the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway(M&SMR) [2].

The tramway, with a length of 27 miles was reported still operational in 1948 [3].

As a result of the construction and opening of the Bhadra reservoir the tramway was abandoned between 1947 (start of construction) and 1965 (year of commissioning) [4] and Narasimharajapura lost its connectivity when the project was taken up [5] .
