This was an event during the 3rd Carnatic War. Also known as the Battle of Calcutta.

Summary

Following the Recapture of Calcutta Suraj ud Daulah marched against Fort William with a large army and camped a short distance from Calcutta. Clive made a dawn attack with limited success. The Nawab was obliged to come to terms with the British as he was under threat from and Afghan invasion.
